Comments Although the last of Sept is hurricane season, the weather was outstanding. There was virtually no wind and it only rained a couple of times at night. This is low season so cost were cheaper but some restaurants, stores etc were not open. Be aware that Caicos is expensive even in low season. The lack of wind made the seas completely flat. There was very little, if any, current.
Caicos Adventures is first class dive organization. The boats were well maintained and equipped with all the necessary safety equipment. The large dive boat is custom built for diving. In all my years, I have not been on a better boat for diving. The dive guides were attentive w/o being overbearing. Max depth for the 1st dive was 85'. The main reason is that the diving at West Caicos is all wall diving so the second dive was still at 65'. The crew was very diligent about no one getting into deco. The guides had the divers back at the boat in around 45 minutes. But they let all divers stay down until their air was at 500psi. The coral was as pretty as I have seen in the Caribbean. The coral seemed in much better condition than most anywhere. We saw enough fish, sharks, turtles and rays to keep the diving interesting. Only 3 lionfish were spotted on our 8 dives.
The house we rented turned out to be only about 1/2 mile from the dive shop. The house was well furnished w a beach and pool. Absolutely nothing to complain about with the house. Except, there appears to be feral dog problem on the island, and two took up residence with us. Both were friendly but became somewhat of a nuisance. Although we called, mgmt never addressed the problem. But the dog lovers in the group did start feeding them so we must take some of the blame.
We rented 2 cars from Grace Bay rentals. Their office is directly across from the airport and we were met by a rep that got us on our way quickly. Caicos is a small island and easy to get around but some of the roads are pretty bad. Watch out for the many pot holes.
The only downside was that large number of biting insects. Be sure to pack lots of repellent.

Great review! How long were the boat rides to West Caicos?
By report author: Mark Miller in TX, US at Jun 05, 2016 11:54 EST
From the dive shop we used the boat rides were short. But we had unbelievably calm weather so we were able to do some dive sites there were rarely accessible. If you have any other questions it is ok to use my email address: millermed@aol.com
