Comments Caicos divers only dives west Caicos sites which is an approximate 30-40 minute trip on their 43ft Power Catamaran that holds maximum of 22 divers. Departs at 9am and returns at 230pm. They will pick you up and drop you back home for no extra charge (pick up 730 and back home at 3pm). Makes for a long day. $140.00 for 2 tanks. Nitrox $10.00 per tank.
I did not have opportunity to dive with other operators to compare dive sites. West Caicos is most all wall dives and wall starts at 60 feet, so both dive 1 and 2 were deep lasting about an hour on nitrox. Must watch computer on 2nd dive to avoid deco. There is a hang bar for safety stop at 15 feet which was very nice for the inexperienced. A regulator hangs at about 18 feet in the event you need a longer deco stop or run low on air.
Staff very professional above and below water. Unfortunately all 3 dive days the boat had many children ages 12-15 with limited experience and poor buoyancy. But they make every effort to place experienced divers together. Dive master spent most time watching the junior divers which left little time to point out small critters. By end of the trip I held back and watched the back of the group so he could watch the front. About 8 divers per dive master in water. I felt they did an excellent job with the inexperienced divers.
We saw multiple sharks on every dive, many turtles. Coral has some fungus covering most of the sites that the dive master indicated was something unique recently to Caicos? No current, great visibility and warm water - made for very nice and relaxed diving. I was allowed to dive my own profile and often entered water with the first group and came up last with 2nd group. You are not required to follow the dive master if you are so inclined to navigate yourself, which is not hard with wall diving.
Overall I would dive with Caicos again but would like to have opportunity for other sites besides West Caicos. Boat captain indicated there are about 12 sites on the West side and he specifically made sure we did not repeat any sites during my 3 days with them.
