Comments I've been a two previous dive trips to Turks and Caicos, diving with Dive Provo both times. But the last trip was in 2012, and I had read that the previous owner of the operation had retired so I wasn't sure what to expect. Overall, the diving was very much up to par with what I remembered, but the dive operation seemed much less personal as they seem to have grown quite a bit was multiple boats and a large cast of DMs. I dove for 4 consecutive days. Days 1 and 4 were at West Caicos and days 2 and 3 at French Caye. Both locations offered excellent wall dives with good coral cover (nice mixture of hard and soft corals) with some really nice formations. There was more fish life at French Caye, including numerous Nurse Sharks that clearly have become habituated to divers. The highlight of the week was on the final day at West Caicos that featured a swim through that opens up onto the reef wall. I was the first diver of the group to enter the swim through, which is about 25 feet long, and found it occupied by two Nurse Sharks and one Reef Shark, all three of which were facing in my direction. The Reef Shark eventually turned around, but not until I was almost on top of him, while the Nurse Sharks let me squeeze by without vac sting the passage.

My only quibble with Dive Provo was the way they handle experienced solo divers. Those who don't come with a buddy are required to wear a neon yellow rash guard and to stick with one of the DMs rather than having them buddy up with one of the other solo divers. The problem with this system is that I had a different DM for every dive. Even for the two-tank dive on a given day they would switch DMs after the first dive. So there was never an opportunity for a DM to assess your level of competency and to determine whether the "mother hen" treatment was needed. On 3 of the 4 days of diving I wa the only diver on the boat diving with Nitrox. But only one of the DMs allowed me to exceed the depth limit he established for the group.

Despite this I would still recommend Dive Provo, but I did miss the more personalized service (same DM for the whole week) that I experienced when I dove with them in the past.
