Comments Last summer, July 11, 2009 we decided to go for a week on the Turks & Caicos Explorer II. I had no idea that we would see so many sharks, and I mean lots and lots.
The nice thing about diving from a live aboard is how easy it is to get up, eat and dive, eat a snack and dive, eat lunch and dive, take a nap and dive then, you guessed it, dive again. Your tank is always ready to go when you are, simple slip into the BCD and walk off the boat. Its up to you how long you stay underwater, we averaged 60-80 min.
We like to night dive, and not every live aboard thinks it thru for a night dive location. Captain Ken knew what sites worked and didn't work for night adventurers. So, almost everyone did the night dives, this is not the norm. Thumbs up Explorer!!!
This boat is the nicest we have stayed on, a very large room with windows, and a queen size bed. We stayed in room 2 but 1 was just as nice. The lower deck rooms are a bit smaller.
Every meal was wonderful and they cater to your eating habits, we don't eat beef so many options were available for us to pick from, so we were never hungry. Captain Ken was a hoot and fun to be around. I am a little biased since he let me drive the boat, or maybe I just thought I was driving.
We go on a lot of live aboards and explorer always floats to the top as our favorite, they come thru with 5 dives a day, good crew, and dependable running boats.
We stayed on land before and after the charter, we also went with local dive companys, it was fun. I like to support the land based companys as well as the boat, spread the money love around. Have fun!
