Comments This is my second time diving Provo, the first with Flamingo Divers. What a great experience. I had planned on diving with Fifi at Caicos Adventures, who I had been diving with before, but the island was just coming off the September slow season and hadn't gotten up to speed yet. Thankfully, Flamingo Divers was operating and had an open spot for me while I was there. Flamingo Divers has been owned and operated by Jayne & Mickey Baker for the last 13 years. They had previously worked as dive instructors in the Cayman Islands before settling on Provo, so they have a wealth of experience. Jayne picked me up at my hotel on Grace Bay each morning at 7:30 for the ~15 minute drive to the boat slip at south marina. Their Delta boat is a fine dive platform with all the necessary safety equipment, bench seats, a marine head and plenty of shade. Since it drafts only about 3 feet, they can get through passes to dive sites other larger boats can't get to. Most dive sites are a ~45 minute boat ride; West Caicos, Sandbor Channel and North West Point. Entry is by back roll and exit is made by taking off fins and climbing aboard the ladder. The reefs are healthy, very fishy and full of critters. We saw multiple Caribbean Reef Sharks on every dive. The water was a warm 83-84 degrees so a wet suit wasn't necessary. Jayne usually leads the first dive and Mickey leads the second - or you can go off and do your own thing as long as you have a buddy. Surface intervals are done on the boat with snacks and water provided. They take out a max of 8 divers so its never crowded. Mickey and Jayne both have the enthusiasm of new divers and are always finding something incredible to share. And they are nice people too. At the end of the dive day, Mickey will keep your dive gear, rinse it and have it ready on the boat for the next days diving. Easy breezy. I enjoyed meeting Micky & Jayne and will enjoy diving with Flamingo Divers next time I'm in the Turks and Caicos Islands. Highly recommended.
