Comments Diving at Grand Turk is still amazing. The walls are in good condition, and go on forever! Lots of tangs, snapper, grunts, black durgeons, parrotfish, juvenile fish of many varieties and good sized grouper!. The dive operators have been spearing lionfish for several years, so only saw 3 in during the week. Smitty is still awesome to dive with. He found an octopus in a conch shell, did spear a lionfish-but it was taken off the spear by a grouper. On 2 dives, the groupers just followed us waiting for food, as they will not hunt lionfish, but are happy to eat them once you kill them. Saw some giant crabs and lobster on the night dive, and lots of bioluminescence in the water (you have to turn off your dive lights). Jason is a new dive instructor working with Smitty and is great- barely uses air, keeps track of everyone, and finds the dive boat!
Grand Turk runs 6 pack boats: go out for 2 dives in the morning, returning to the beach between dives for surface interval.
The cruises ships come in almost everyday, but Cockburn town is still very quiet at night. One thing I didn't miss- no crowing roosters at sunrise, but there are still wild donkeys around.
