Comments | We love Grand Turk, Oasis, and Osprey. We've been coming there, diving with them for more than 10 years. The reefs and the island have recovered well from the devastation of the hurricanes three years ago (we were there during Hurricane Hannah, and left just before Hurricane Ike). Oasis gives great individualized service. They have DM's that have been with them forever, know the reefs really well, and are still enthusiastic about what they're doing. Only 6 people or fewer on a boat, and they try to make groupings of similar skill/experience. Rental gear is top quality, and boats are in good shape. Safety is well taken care of, but they don't coddle the divers (at least the experienced ones!). You are allowed to dive your own profile, stay down as long as your air/computer will allow, dive solo, with a buddy, or follow the DM. Good wide angle and macro subjects. Lots of lion fish on each dive, unfortunately, but still plenty of fish including lots of groupers and the usual reef denizens. They'll do a night dive on request for 2 or more divers. The wall is only a couple hundred yards from the shore, so you only have 10 minutes on the boat to the dive site, and come back to the shop for the surface interval. Can't wait to go back. | ||

UW Photo Comments | there's a dedicated rinse tank at the shop, where you also spend the surface interval, and a table to work on cameras. A fresh water barrel on the boat for cameras. |
