Comments My wife and I look forward to diving in Grand Turks and the Oasis dive company. We have a favorite dive master, Mackie, because he really cares about the reef, is very knowledgeable about the coral and sea life. His dives are very slow so you can really look for the critters. I’ve been diving with Oasis for 15 years and know Dale the owner of the shop. This current trip started off great and following the fifth day and ten dives my back was itchy. I’ve never have a reaction to seafood and thought it might be the soap at the Manta house. Both ideas were incorrect because the next morning when I got up I had blotches on my shoulder. Much to my shock I had skin bends. How can this be with no violations in diving. A call to Dan and they confirm that I had skin bends and should visit the hospital and get checked out. I stopped by the dive shop and saw Dale who was busy with the activities involving two cruise ships in port that day. Although an important part of her business, Dale suggested that she take me to the hospital in Grand Turks to be evaluated. The hospital visit went fine and I was given oxygen and despite her busy schedule she came during the treatment to check on me. She then told us to call her when I got released so she could pick us up. Well above and beyond the expected service. This was our first stay at the Manta House and was delightful. Maintenance problem was resolved immediately and the owners who own the Sandbar Resturant checked on us regularly. The place we had previously stayed was severely damage in last years hurricane. Also we have two Resturant’s we can recommend. If you like great coffee, till a few months ago none was available but a new Resturant has opened and they have an espresso machine Arches and also the Turks Head inn under new. Management. Also good food at the Sandbar and Bohio.
