Comments Did 2 dives at the Fredericksted Pier, led by divemaster Paul. This is a top-notch operation, very safety conscious, good pre-dive briefings. Pier typically done as a "shore" dive, very convenient from N2theBlue's downtown Fredericksted location next to the pier. Gear is wheeled down to the pier and set up for you. Easy stride off the pier into the water. First dive was AM, next was night dive. Both were excellent and interesting. Could dive this dive over and over again. Plentiful seahorses, frogfish, puffers, octopus, variety of reef fish, beautiful anemones, lobster, large turtles, and a variety of crabs, spectacular spotted eagle ray, very interesting and dense marine life under the pier. Did get snagged by a fisherman (inebriated?) on the night dive, but immediately rescued by Paul -- this is apparently a very rare event but important to be careful and prepared. Super-long bottom times w/ max depth around 30-35ft. 1 hr+ returning with 1000psi on first dive and 75 minutes with still close to 1000psi on the night dive. One other couple along for the AM dive, but just my wife and me, plus DM Paul, for 2nd dive.
Only on St Croix for 3 days, but would definitely dive with these guys again, visit pier again and also reefs, wrecks, etc from boat and/or shore. Lots of great diving here and generally un-crowded in Feb/March, except for when Cruise Ships are in port (usually 1 day per week). Can't dive pier then, but who'd want to.
Chenay Bay Beach Resort (East End of St. Croix) is under recent new management and is a fanatastic bargain for St Croix. Rental cars can be scarce so plan ahead. Several great restaurants nearby, starting with the one at the resort itself -- getting rave reviews from people living nearby (and from us, too). Also enjoyed Cheeseburgers in Paradise and Galleon. Took advantage of our cottage's ample kitchenette facilities to make our own breakfasts and pack lunches. Wi-fi is slow but who cares. Also took a really fun jeep tour of St Croix including spectacular Tide Pools (otherwise must hike in 2 miles to see them) with Tan Tan tours. A great way to see the island and figure out which places you'd like to visit.
Sailed to Buck Island on Capt Heinz' Teroro II, a beautiful trimaran (other tours are under power; sail is a much better way to go). The snorkeling at Buck Island was a bit disappointing due to high winds/surf and severely damaged reefs (warming event a few years back), but still a lot of fun and worth seeing.
1 mil suit was fine for AM dive but a bit chilly for the night dive. Wife wore 5-mil semi-dry and was very comfortable.

Enforced diving restrictions plan was to turn at 750 psi and limit dive to 45 minutes, but @ 30 ft depth never came close and thus had 2 nice long dives. DM's flexibility much appreciated.
