Aldora Divers are superb, cost a little more but worth it. Totally dedicated to getting all dives in and accomodating every reasonable request. We had a "Norte" and the harbor was closed 2 days, so we went to the east side of the island to finger coral formations and "Cannonball", with 12 huge cannons in 20 feet of water (only outfit that was diving those days). Huge 120 cu. ft. steel tanks--I used nitrox all week, and had routine 70-80 minute dives. Provide parkas and water after dives. Memo runs a great dive operation. Diving was much better than I had imagined because of concern about hurricane damage, but I was not disappointed. Tons of angelfish, giant green eels, dozens of turtles, lots of small tropicals. Was upgraded at the Villas to "Barracuda" facing the ocean, nice room, plenty of hot water, kitchenette to fix breakfast and lunch. Kay took me to the big grocery store after I checked in. The villas are a mile north of town so it's easier to eat in during the day, out at night with a nice walk or bike ride to town. Restaurant recommendations galore, and cheap eats everywhere. Cruise ship crowds usually gone by 6pm. Aldora Divers are the best--Javier was great--sense of humor, good briefings. I'll go back. A nice spur-of-the-moment trip that turned out great. |

UW Photo Comments | Didn't bring my camera because most dives were drift, but wish I would have in retrospect--fish were very tame and some dives had very mild current. |
