Comments For starters, this was a REEF trip, and, unfortunately for us we assumed too much and paid dearly for it. It all began when I assumed we were staying at a water front operation we had seen before while on a trip some years ago. We did not research the trip, being long time REEF members. The assumption was "it's all good".

The diver operation is excellent. Well coordinated for our group of 15 divers plus leader. Very attentive DM's with safety a prime concern. Plenty of bottled water and fruit onboard. The boat had an uncomfortable step over at the stern plus a light weight ladder that swung a bit much in fairly light sea conditions. Lots of shade on the vessel and plenty of room for everyone. Friendly and hard working crew.

Safari Inn is bare bones and very noisy with rooms no more than 50 or so feet from the very busy noisy main throughfare in Cozumel. Want cheap this is it with skimpy, uncomfortable bed, chairs and "sofa" (8 ft piece of plywood with maybe an inch cushioning over it. Noisy A/C, the blanket was a small shawl size item, no phone, no TV or refrigerator as well. A louvered door to the bathroom and a sign saying no paper products in the toilet. No, it was not a marine head. Patience required for the hot water to reach the 3rd floor and no, there wasn't an elevator. Out the door and its an alley way with a bit of trash hanging in a tree against a concrete wall. The photos we were sent made it appear the hotel was on the water. Not.

Convenient to the dive shop which is on the first floor with one rinse tank, one bar maybe 15 ft long and mounted so high many women could not reach it to hang gear on. No way gear could get air to dry. Very crowded when more than a couple of divers go to the back of this shop to rinse and hang gear.

We would strongly suggest divers consider diving with Aqua Safari but spend a few more dollars and stay at the Casa Mexicana perhaps a few hundred feet away with a truly outstanding staff, furnishings, breakfast included, bar and lounge area, computers, TV, laundry service and elevator.
