Comments Aquanauts went under new ownership while we were there. They have been customers since 2003, and the overall feeling of them taking over was positive.
Everyone is staying, except Nattlie who is moving on.
The new owners are putting in new and larger motors on the boat so that they will be able to offer further reefs in a short time.
Some of the reefs that they go to, closer to shore show a lot of reef damage from the storms. But there is still lots of fish life to see. One of the dives must have had several hundred fishes in several schools. Turtles are seen in almost every dive.
The crew itself is very professional. This is our second time diving with this op, and love the long bottoms times. This is a dive op that puts safety first, and they too love to dive. They 'putter along' on their dives, which we love. It is not a race to cover the most ground, but a slow dive, able to watch turtles eating, eels and rays out hunting, watch cleaning stations.
All dives are drift dives, but nothing ripping in the way of speed. There was just one dive that was quite a pain to try to take pictures.
Now, I wore a 3 mil suit, but we were diving day after day, 2 tanks dives, and I would get cooler by the end of the second dive.
We will be back.
The AI resort Catalonia Yucatan is also a solid resort. The service is top notch and the food is quite good.
You must take a short walk to the Marina to reach Aquanauts, about 5 minutes. We just wheeled out equipment out to the dive shop and they keep the equipment for you till you are done.
We did not use the dive op on the resort as they limit your dive to 45 minutes and you must walk with your gear (minus tank) to the Dreams resort and then they take you to the Marina. Not my kind of diving.

UW Photo Comments There is no fresh water container on the boat, but dive sites are only max. 10 minutes from the marina, and there is fresh water there. The boat crew is very careful with equipment.
