Comments Dived all but the first couple of days with Blue Project, a new operation with a well-established divemaster. Blanca is the divemaster; Paco runs the office. Blanca has spun off from Blue XT Sea and has opened her own business with Paco's help. Great service and no trips were cancelled except by harbormaster. If I wanted to dive, Blanca took me. Small, fast boats. Even if I was the only diver. No trips cancelled because the boat wasn't full. We went diving when I wanted to dive. Personal, professional, experienced dive operator. She took me in swim thrus, spotted big stuff, pointed out tiny stuff. She and I made fun of each other because we both carried so many "toys"--flashlights, magnifying glasses, camera, etc--to fully enjoy the experience. It was really refreshing to have a dive master who was just as excited about being underwater and seeing things as I was. Concierge service--even dried all my gear after my last dive and delivered it to me at the hotel the next day. May be a couple of dollars more than other "cattle herders" for a 2-tank dive, but worth every penny.
The reefs are coming back beautifully. The corals are doing well to continuously impress me with variety. Even saw a staghorn there for the first time. The colors are amazing. Lots of grouper and they are getting huge since the diving is a protected marine park. Lots of nurse sharks and turtles. Saw one coral head that had at least 6 juvenile damselfish in it; green morays; parrotfish galore; electric rays; spotted eagle rays; seahorses and pipehorses; saw my first batfish up near Barracuda reef. Blanca would catch and chum the water with dead lionfish--EVERYONE ate lionfish. It was amazing to watch what an anemone did to one. The smaller fish were ruthless in fighting over which parts they got. Revenge maybe? Did I say lots of fish?!!
Viz up north was nonexistent--maybe 5 feet. It was a trade off--you either got rippin' current and good viz or low viz and no current. You pick. But that's Cozumel. Never predictable, except predictably excellent diving to suit anyone: beginner, advanced, expert, techno.
I can honestly say it was the best dive trip (25 days) I've ever had and I can't wait to return.

UW Photo Comments This is daily boat diving, not shore diving, not liveaboard diving. Always had a clean, restricted bucket for cameras. Handled them with care.
