Comments Puerto Aventuras was a great, well run and friendly dive operation. After doing a little reading and searching on line, I found that they were a PADI 5 star operation and one of a few locations in a marina with easy access to the reach. I made arrangements with them via email. They were very responsive and offered to put me in a dive package witht the Omni hotel (next door) or a studio conddo they had access to next door. I opted for the condo and it was great. The staff made arrangements for my airport transfer. I waited only a few minutes and they took me right to the condo where the dive staff met me. The next morning they took all my information and got me set up with my diving for the week. They took care to group similar skills of divers togterh, even if that only meant 1 person in the boat. I never dived wih more than 5 people. Their divemasters gave good dive briefings and watched divers closely on the first dive. They were very safety conscoius and patient with divers needing extra assistance with ear clearing or buoancy control. Divemasters went out of way to show you marine life, unique corals. Reefs were relatively healthy and marine life fairly abundant. We saw usual suspects, grouper, snapper, lobster, spotted drum, trumpetfish. Highlights were turtle encounters and seahorses. the divemasters let you get close but did not allow divers to touch. The returned to the marina between dives so no one had to bob around and risk getting ill. They also had fresh water on the boat and provided bottles after every dive. They also offer trips to the cenotes. Again the divemaster was very knowledgeable and specialized in cenote, cavern and cave diving. They offer 2 morning dives and 2 afternoon dives and sounded like they coordinate night dives when they had enough people. The condo was literally steps away and was well appointed, neat and clean. It had a nigce patio overlooking the beach. The condo had a pool and nice beach front area. In Puerto Aventuras there is a dolphin discovery program so you can walk around the tanks and see marine life, including baby dolphins with their mothers and stingrays. Around the marina are also a number of restaruants and shops. Many restaraunts had live entertainment. Fishing, golfing, biking also offered in the area. Overall a great experience. I would recommend Dive Aventuras and the Puerto Aventuras area to divers of different levels and individuals traveling with non-divers as there are many things to do. Many thanks to Dive Aventuras for making it a great holiday!
