Comments The Fiesta Americana is showing its age. It is clean, but pretty worn. The food is served cafeteria style, and it is what one would expect in a cafeteria. You could make a reservation at the restaurant, but the food was prepared in the same kitchen, so it wasn't any better.
I found the diving to be surprisingly good. As an underwater photographer, I found that if I stayed in one spot too long, another dive group would come by in the current. It was like one big conveyor belt of divers. Once after surfacing, I found myself surrounded by seven different dive boats. In spite of the intense diving pressure, the reefs seemed to be in remarkably good shape. The Dive House boats were quite crowded for the morning dives; the afternoon dives had significantly fewer divers on board. The dive guides were generally not very good about keeping track of all of the divers. Fortunately, no one was injured or lost while we were there. The currents can be strong, and the guides were pretty good about reading the water and avoiding sites with excessive or difficult currents. The dive equipment storage area had small lockers for the baskets. If you intend to go with this operator, you may want to bring your own lock (with a thin hasp), as they charge a steep price to buy one of theirs.
Overall, the operation is run fairly well. Due to the large numbers of divers on the morning dives, you can't expect much in the way of personalized service. I would consider diving with them again.
