Comments Cozumel was opened, we were all vaccinated so we booked the trip. There were no direct flights from Atlanta so we had to go through DFW or CLT. We went through DFW on American Airlines. Delta has been my go to airline for years. I didn't like AA.

We landed and caught the shuttle bus to Iberostar and checked in seamlessly. It consists of two story buildings interspersed throughout the multi acre resort. So there was a lot of walking to the dive shop or the restaurant.

Food was good and varied. My room was clean and well stocked.

The diving was the standard follow the dive guide that is the norm in Cozumel. It was all drift diving of course. We saw our share of turtles and moray eels but the coral was heartbreaking. I understand that there was a dying off of corals a couple of years ago.

I would not choose Dressell diving again. We used a different boat each day. Some days, we used two different boats the same day. Every time we changed boats, we had to drop our weights and re-weight on a different boat. These were Mexican weights so very few of them were marked, many were just chunks of lead of indiscriminate size. So doing a weight check on the first day was a waste since you could not accurately replicate your weights from the first day. I decided to overweight as a precaution. And that was a pain.

Dressell had every one in the resort come to the dive shop at 8am. There was only room for two boats at the dock and Dressell had as many as five or six boats every day picking up dive groups. So for the first three or four days, we sat in the hot sun for most of an hour waiting for our turn to board a boat. We complained to the manager and he boarded us first the next couple of days. But that only means that someone else had to wait. There was no real explanation as to why divers could not be scheduled to board the boat as boats were scheduled to arrive.

I don't think Dressell has their own boats. As I noted before, we had a different boat everyday. Some were okay boats some were really bad. One boat was so bad that we refused to get on it again. it was poorly equipped, the ladder sucked and the crew completely ignored the divers in the water.

We have done Cozumel dozens of times and Iberostar is on our list of resorts we will return to. As far as Dressell Divers go, Rodrigo and Berenice were our dive guides and they were awesome. But they were the only saving grace at Dressell. We won't use Dressell again.
