Comments bought 8 tanks of diving from King Scuba through a local charter company, Lighthouse Tours. King Scuba is a small diving operation in Puerto Morelos. Jairo Lara is an owner and the dive master. They charge $10/day for transport to and from the resort, about an 6 min ride. The dives were $110/ two tank boat dive. King Scuba does not have its own boat. The local rules only allow smaller local boats to service divers from the town dock which is in bad shape. You have to backroll off the boat and then climb back in. On the days I dove I was the only diver with King Scuba and when my wife dove we were the only ones in the boat.

My wife and I were staying at the Excellence Rivera Cancun. The resort is outstanding and we have been there many times.

The waters off of Puerto Morelos are a protected national park and there is a federal lab to study the park next to the town. The corals, both soft and hard, are in great shape.

Having not dove for almost three years I felt a little rusty, but I have been diving for over forty years so it came back quickly.
The first day we went out to two sites and saw lots of small fish, lobsters, angels, including beautiful soft coral and sponges. No larger fish except one barracuda that hovered in the distance. Second day was similar to the first but saw small eels, and a crab in some metal bell shaped fish houses that the government has dropped on the sand. Also saw stingrays, one small and one very large, about three feet across. Also saw three good sized turtle seated sea grass.

On the next trip my wife accompanied and we did a single tank and saw similar fish and corals. At the end of the dive her Sherwood Luna BC broke at where the oral inflate tube attached to the bladder. Plastic part glued in completely separated. The last day I dove the wreck that the Mexican government sunk for divers on the outside of the reef .The ship is an old US coastguard boat sitting up with the bottom at 85ft, with deck at about 65ft. The boat had guts removed and part of deck removed. You can penetrate if you want.
Saw two large barracudas, and many other smaller fish. I have received a Garmin Decent Mark 1 in 2019 and had not had a chance to dive with it.
It is incredible, it has three displays underwater including a digital compass. It also logs everything about your dive including depth, time, temp, heart rate. Because it has GPS it maps exactly where you dove in the log. It is incredible.
