Comments Diving with 'Living Underwater' was great. This was the best diving I've done in Cozumel, and all it was all due to Jeremy & his crew.
Steel 120's for the guys and steel 95's for the ladies, the only way to dive. 85+ minute dives all the time. All the usual spots plus Maricaibo and Devil's Throat! They picked us up at the dock and took care of our gear until the last dive. Drinks & snacks on the boat, plus our surface interval was taken on Palancar beach.
The boat holds 8 divers max and is very fast. Jeremy is a great dive guide and was very good at finding critters. I can't praise him enough. After this trip, I can't imagine diving with anyone else in Cozumel.
The Occidental Grande is a beautifully landscaped Eco-Resort nestled in the Jungle on the southern end of the island. You walk across a small wooden bridge to access the sandy beach, large pool, and beach-side restaurant. The rooms were very nice, though the air conditioning was less than effective. There were colorful iguana's hanging around the resort, and swarms of mosquitoes at sunset.
It is an 'All Inclusive' resort, and although the food was OK, it was never great. Breakfast was served at 7:00 AM, and was probably the best meal of the day. All you could drink too, with a bar at the pool and beach-side restaurant.
I'd stay there again if nothing else for it's proximity to the dive sites. We often came up from our second dives with less than a 5 minute trip to the dock.
Watch out for the Time Share salesmen. They're everywhere, from the airport to the resort. They will hound you to death if you give them a chance.
