Comments We dove for 6 days with Living Underwater, and all 6 were fabulous. The last time we dove Cozumel was before Hurricane Wilma and we were a little nervous about the condition which we’d find the reefs. Santa Rosa wall wasn’t as lush as I remember, the rest were excellent. Punta Sur and Maracaibo were stunning.

Sergio was an amazing divemaster. He found a seahorse to show us! He also showed us a juvenile drumfish and juvenile queen angelfish. Eagle rays almost every day, nurse sharks, turtles, splendid toadfish, scorpionfish, green & spotted moray eels, big groupers and big parrotfish, flamingo tongues, arrow crabs. We saw about 8 lionfish, Sergio was able to destroy most of them. Most dives lasted 70-75 minutes. First half of dive, about 20-30 minutes, was around 80 feet, then second 30-40, shallower, around 40 feet. Sergio always found critters to show us, no matter what the depth.

Our first day was windy and rough. The harbormaster closed the port, but Living Underwater’s boat is just big enough to pass through. The second day was also windy, and the harbor was closed, but our boat came through around noon when the seas calmed enough. The boat was super comfortable with room for everyone to maneuver. We really appreciated the towels and parkas given how windy it was. Captain Francesco and first-mate Ricky took excellent care of us, and were super friendly and funny. We will definitely be diving with Living Underwater on our next visit to Cozumel.

We stayed at Residencias Reef condos (condo 6240) which is connected to the Wyndham resort. We were picked up on the pier every morning and dropped off. Excellent place to stay for diving, as our boat rides were very short compared to staying further north. Our condo was as comfy as home and we loved our wrap around porch for our evening cervezas. Favorite restaurant with best food and best margaritas was El Moro, which is a ways off the beaten path, just a few extra dollars of cab fare – definitely worth it.
