Comments As usual I pack way to many clothes.
My wife, daughter and I all used lycra suits and were very comfortable. We used the rental gear except I took our own masks and fins and my regulator and wish I had brought the backup regulator also and had my wife use it for the dive computer familiarity.
We had not been to Scuba Club for 5 years because of our daughter was in college. I have still dove a few times every year but they had not. They were both certified there a few trips earlier. So it was refresher course for both. My daughter just glides through the water! While my wife is still nervous, but by the end she was very relaxed. Trip 5 for them and trip number 8 for me to Scuba Club.
Every trip to Scuba Club is relaxed as it is always the same clean rooms, the same good food, the same boats and the same dive boat crews. The diving can get boring if you are looking for different adventures. There is still a lot of the reef critters to look for and the night dives off the dive club pier are still pretty good.
One reviewer had commented about the older age of the visitors. That is true. The younger crowd likes a little more action; more of a party life. But for my wife and I we are there to relax and for her to dive. I do not want any more entry and exits from Carmel River Beach and Monastery Beach at my age of 67!
I loved California diving when I was younger and driven to great lengths of physical fitness so I could dive deeper and longer when free diving off the Central and North Coast beaches. Not any more..
Scuba Club is a great resort for easy and relaxing diving. Great place to start the kids and introduce them to diving for he rest of their lives.
The only problem for us is the long layovers we encounter when headed there from the SF Bay Area either from SFO or SJC.

I loved free diving in California when I was younger. I had some great people show me a lot of their techniques.
Closest Airport CZM Getting There The biggest problem for is coming from SFO and the layover in Houston. Usually there are no direct flights from SJC or SFO

Enforced diving restrictions The dive master on every trip specified the max depth and aprox. down time. They were specific about tank pressure and deco stops. They did not check any divers gauges that I saw, just signaled to you and asked. Once they had appraised your level they pretty much just watched the flock.
Liveaboard? no Nitrox Available? yes

UW Photo Comments The current makes you drift and it can be hard to set up for the great shots. A really good place to get practice for more challenging dive trips. There are great muck opportunities right off the resort pier. The great shark action is somewhere else, not here. Did not see any whales this trip, only once in 8 trips have I ever seen one underwater. Lots of large sharks and whales off California but the water is usually very silty and visibility low. Great warm water here and easy diving, just a bit boring for an active, experienced diver. (I am older now).
The Scuba Club Dive Shop has most things that you need to replace or forgot. Just bring extra batteries for the cameras or use rechargeable ones because they are not cheap!
All in all it is a great place for a practice run before going farther away or if you just want a relaxing dive trip and enjoy the warm water!
