Comments We were there during "Carnaval", which made our time on land more interesting and entertaining. Gorgeous costumes, the crowning of queen and king (and the whole court), and dance exhibitions in the evenings. Scuba Club is on the edge of downtown, and good restaurants are an easy walk. Restaurant on site with good food. Our package included their breakfast and dinner. Diving was good with mild current. Saw some really large angels, snappers, and parrots - one massive rainbow parrotfish! Also, spotted eagle rays. Not many grouper. You can snorkel or dive their house reef, but it's mostly sand. It would help greatly if they would plant more structural habitat for fish there. It's forty yards from your dive locker (bring a lock) to the boats. Our package included two morning dives and unlimited shore dives.

Midweek we ferried to/from Playa del Carmen and with Yucatek Divers we dived two cenotes: Garden of Eden and Tajma Ha. Really fascinating and beautiful. An unexpected delight. If you've never dived cenotes and you like swim-throughs and are not claustrophobic, I highly recommend.
