Comments This was a challenging trip in that our granddaughters 11 and 13 are Junior SCUBA certified. Jorge de la Fuente, a partner in Scuba Du, personally made sure that they had a great guide, Mario, and that our guide, Jose Luis, would find places for us and them. Willie, the boat, captain, is exceptional, having to watch 2 locations and 6 divers. That said, the water was quite cold 76-78 degrees. I had a 5 mil, hood and shirt and was cold most of the time. It did however present eagle rays on almost every dive. They are extraordinarily beautiful to watch, especially when in abundance. There are now black tip sharks by Punta Tunis. We saw them twice. The nurse sharks are very large as they were last summer. The juvenile drum fish were everywhere. It's interesting that we watched large green moray eels free swimming. A very large octopus was out and about during the day. We didn't see many lionfish, but feel they are becoming quite aware of the dangers of divers. They are well hidden. The snappers still wait to have them for lunch. There are few grouper. The giant lobsters were mating and prancing about. Yes, there were many divers, but we tried to avoid those places. I find that the more I dive, the less area I need to cover to be amused and amazed.

UW Photo Comments There is a rinse tank at El Cantil. They are very careful with our equipment on the boat, but there is no rinse tank.
