Comments We arrived to beautiful weather and I held my breathe that El Norte would not show its ugly face. The first day of diving was heavenly. The water was pleasant and there was no wind. The next day was extremely rough in early afternoon and soon the port was closed to small crafts. There was no diving the following day. The rain cooled the water and lowered the visibility. There were eagle rays and Caribbean reef shark. There were unusual schools of Queen Angelfish and File fish. The Toad fish are more plentiful. The Lion fish are deeper. I noticed that the turtle population was less and saw turtle jewelry for sale in town for the first time! Let's hope it isn't the beginning of bad behavior. The currents were quite tame during this visit. The divers have returned in droves. It's the busiest I've seen Cozumel since before the hurricane. Scuba Du is so accommodating in that they do try to avoid the crowds. Jose Luis recently received the "best dive guide" award in Cozumel from Jean Michel Cousteau. He is caring and sincere and very knowledgeable about the reef system. He is also an expert with the Go Pro so if there are problems they can be resolved. The boats are all newly refurbished and safe. For those that know Victor, his daughter was in a serious accident. Our gear was, however, meticulously cleaned after each day of diving. This service cannot be surpassed. Jorge, the owner, is very amenable and insures the experience with Scuba Du will be memorable. It was exciting in that our granddaughters partook in the "Bubble Maker" course. There are now 3 generations diving with Scuba Du. El Cantil is an ideal place to stay. Albert keeps the buildings in order. Scuba Du picks us up at the dock. The grocery store is across the street and the town is within walking distance. The infinity pool and grounds are well kept.

UW Photo Comments The only problem with so many repeated trips to Cozumel, the subject matter remains the same. I feel though that is true of most destinations. I ask myself at times how many perfect photos of a blue cleaner shrimp can I have?
