Comments We were in Mexico for a destination wedding, and decided to do a two-tank dive through the hotel. I mean, we're in Mexico so why not?

Took a 45 minute bus ride to the boat site (they said it was a 10 minute drive), and they didn't tell us we needed to bring towels. Oh well.

We rented all the gear except masks and fins. Aqualung brand in good condition. Surprisingly, no computers available. Wore 4 mil shorties, plenty for the 82 degree water at depth.

Small little dive boat, with only 3 divers plus the dive master who joined us. We did 2 drift dives.

First up was Mamoria Mexican Corner. Had some trouble getting down because of a lack of weight (4 mils is more than I usually use). The boat crew handed me another 3 lbs and I went down easily. It was a feee descent, since there was no mooring line. Quite an easy dive with a mild current, and the coral was in surprsingly nice shape - especially the fans. Spotted tutles, sting rays, lobsters during a 45 minute dive with a 55 foot max.

Second was a site called Brain (since it had lots of brain coral). After a pretty short interval of 30 minutes (making me wish I had my computer with me), we did another free descent with the bottom at about 48 feet. This was almost effortlerss, with a current pushing us along in a nice drift over truely fine coral, and we spotted huge clouyds of jacks and other fish. Lots of little aquarium guys too, as well as the terrific brain coral the site is noted for. Spotted some little cleaner shrip of various kinds, and just before surfacing, saw the front end of the largest green moray I have every seen - it had to be a least a foot in dianmeter, and we could see about 6 feet of the critter sticking out of a lateral hole in the reef.

The ride back to the hotel? 10 minutes in a shuttle.
