Comments After looking around Playa del Carmen diving operators we decided to dive with Scuba S.Cool. Rodolfo and Hector from Scuba S.Cool were very helpful from the begining, explaining all the possible options and offering a personalised itinerary. They were also happy to take just the two of us and not try to make up a larger group. They seemed to know the area well and appeared to be the only fully Mexican operator in Playa del Carmen. All their equipment was new and of good quality.

We took a package of three 2-tank dives. We dived 6 different sites of varying depths and levels of difficulty, but still well within our own limits of experience. As we are relatively inexperienced divers (<25 dives) we started with a couple shallow dives (<12 m) and then progressed to deeper water and stronger currents and finished with a wreck dive and a drift dive.

There was plenty of interesting coral and lots of fish. We also saw a few turtles and barracudas, but May is not a good time for the bigger fish and sharks that appear at other times of the year.

Since it was only the two of us plus the Dive Master and Instructor, the experience was more rewarding and felt safe. It was a great plus to dive in a very small group; there were other dive boats that were packed and when we happened to come across one in the water it felt really crowded, especially as it looked like they were taking people on discover scuba trips.

If you are into privacy and not crowded diving we would recommend diving with Scuba S.Cool, who are professional, know the area well, can offer personalised trips and are very helpful and friendly.
