Solo Buceo is a excellent dive operator in Cancun located on Punta Cancun between the Hyatt Ziva and Grand Fiesta Americana Coral Beach hotels. They have a variety of standard dive and snorkel sites that I have been to while in Cancun that are surprisingly good although maybe not quite up to the quality of Cozumel. Still, Ive had some pretty decent dives in Cancun and Solo Buceo is my favorite operator there. I've tried several others, all have been good but, I just like SB best. They are a small outfit who are very attentive and their boats are right there next to their small shop on the ocean side so the ride out is quick. They keep everybody together on these dives and are very safety conscious. They also often include a photographer who will make videos of the dives and sell them for a reasonable price when you return (two of the above videos were made by them). The people who work there are great; Very helpful, competent and safety minded Its a very efficient and effective operation. My most recent wreck and reef dive with them I was the ONLY diver on-board so I got ALL the attention. The C-58 wreck is an old minesweeper originally operated by the US Navy sold to Mexico in 1962 and purposely sunk as an artificial reef a couple of decades thereafter. It sits on a sand bottom at approx 85ft and there really isnt anywhere else to go other than on the wreck. However, for those that want to have some penetration dive experience this is a good place to begin. Its big enough to be interesting, open enough to feel safe and small enough that you wont get lost inside. Inside the wreck there are plenty of fish schooling and hiding while on the outside schools of barracuda can often be seen hovering in the current. Water is swimsuit warn and viz is excellent. Current can be wicked sometimes so holding on to the line while ascending is a must. Video links above say pretty much all you need to know about these dives. After the wreck and a surface interval you do a 60 ft reef dive which is very nice with healthy coral formations and lots of variety of flora and fauna including turtles. Solo Buceo wreck and reef dive is my favorite dive in Cancun. Solo Buceo is my favorite dive operator in Cancun. BTW: They also goes out on Whale Shark snorkel trips but that is another review.

UW Photo Comments For wreck and reef, boats dont go out very far. They are covered but dont always have rinse tanks. I had to wait until I got to shore to rinse off with their hose.
