Comments Extended Horizons was recommended by several dive shops in South Maui for diving Lanai, as none of the boats from South Maui go there.

There were dive briefings prior to going under. Even photos of the marine life were passed around to the group. Much of this was hype. The group of 12 divers were split into 2 groups depending on whether they wanted to purchase the $60 photo package of their dives. The D.M. could not find many of the critters once underwater. The first dive was to a pinnacle off Lanai, which the D.M.s were enthusiastic, but they forgot to ask the divers for their opinion. It was picked because of calm seas. Needless to say, we had to hurry this dive in order to have a shorter Surface Interval. There was an absence of marine life on the barren side of the pinnacle, called Monolith. The second dive was to Cathedrals l, even though many divers voted for Cathedrals ll. It was an interesting site inside the cavern, but just average after exiting and venturing into open water. They had a big sales pitch to buy their T shirts on the way back to shore.

The price for a 2 tank dive quoted on the phone was lower than what I was charged once I arrived at the boat dock. The excuse was that tax was NOT included in my phone quote. I remember that it was included in my quote, since I made reservations while on Maui.

The good--Extended Horizons crew was safety conscious in the pre-dive briefings.
