Comments First the good parts. The dive masters are excellent. Friendly, relaxed, with keen eyes for small critters and rare finds. Very enthusiastic. The dive sites on Lana'i are healthy, and we had excellent viz. The cathedrals were gorgeous. Also, I love that the dive op is trying to be as environmentally conscious as possible.

The frustrating parts: the first dive is a timed dive--40-45 minutes. I would frequently have 1/2 a tank left when notified that the dive is over. They say this is to have sufficient bottom time for the second, longer dive, however all of the first dives we did were quite shallow and bottom time was not an issue. I think this is more about their schedule than anything.

Next, they keep insisting that their divers to use the mooring line to ascend and descend for "safety." This seemed totally unnecessary given the lack of current most of the time and the small groups involved. I didn't use the mooring line--free ascents and descents instead-- and the dive masters were very accommodating and understanding. (Mooring lines get crowded and uncomfortable.)

Finally, the boat ride to Lana'i is long, and sometimes rough. If you get seasick, dose up. There were quite a few sick people.

Bottom line-you are paying a lot for these dives. With tax and tip, about $200 for a two tank dive. I would have preferred to use my entire first tank.
