Comments I loved diving with Kohala divers. The staff was professional, courteous , friendly and educational . They are known for their environmental concerns regarding the native species and do not manhandle the marine life. They have a full service dive shop and service that let's you have lunch nearby while your wetsuit dries. On the boat they practically spoil you . Refreshments include the usual oranges, trail mix & cookies and they have a variety of drinks to choose from . The boat was comfortable and allowed easy entry & exit . Their top concern is safety and it shows.
The diving was easy , fun and pure relaxing and uncrowded as they favor smaller groups and the dive sites are further north than the Kona sites.
There were a couple of white tip reef sharks off Puako beach ( my favorite dive area) and several turtle cleaning stations. There was an abundance of fish , all sizes ,spinner dolphins, garden & white mouth eels and an abundance of healthy hard coral .I saw a leaf scorpion fish for the fish time and the Sargent majors were laying their eggs. We also dove some lava tubes...dark and mysterious ....large puffers in abundance there. An environmental concern were the several Crown of Thorns that we saw each dive. I did wear a hooded vest since I dove 4 days and would recommend at least a cap . You save 10% for a 3 day min. Night dives are around once a week and they do not participate in the Manta Ray dive in Kona.Snorkelers are also welcome.
