Comments Did a one day, two tank dive. Check in at the shop, then board the boat at the little marina across the street. Boat was in nice shape, a Newton 46. Checked Nitrox on the boat. First site was "Alua". Tropicals, a large pod of dolphins(20 plus)came down and swam past us at depth. Green and spotted morays, a lone eagle ray. Second site was Frog Rock and we did see the orange frog fish. Red pipefish, a number of different nudibranchs , including a nice blue dragon. Octopus and a variety of butterfly fish. DM Sandy did a nice job of finding small stuff and went a slow pace. Safe and professional operation. Mask required in the shop, optional on the boat. Encouraged everyone to spread out on the boat and enjoy the space.

Kohala Divers is very convenient to Waikoloa and Mauna Kea resort areas. The shop is small, but has a surprising amount of gear. We actually wound up back at Kohala Divers later in the week to buy warmer gear; vests and an after dive coat. This, was after we searched some of the larger Kona shops.

Westin was nicer than we usually stay, but we got a good deal on a Costco package. This came up early on when COVID started and was kind of a gamble. Staff was very good about wearing masks and constantly cleaning. Beautiful property and very quiet.
