Comments Great dive operation! Beautiful 46 ft purpose built dive boat with shade, purified water to drink, snacks and a head. Camera table, dedicated camera rinse tank, and general gear dunk tank. Really great dive briefings, with likely critter spottings pointed out in a Hawaiian fish guide photo book.
Kevin, one of the dive guides, had an insanely good eye for spotting octopus, cleaner shrimp, morays, frogfish, you name it! I asked for a harlequin shrimp and he found it in a tiny hole that was so out of the line of sight it boggled the mind as to how he ever spotted it! He also pointed out some Bandit Angels that I had never seen before. He knew just where to find them. He was a joy to follow around- you just never knew what he might find next- two leaf scorpionfish hunkered down in a pillar coral, endemic Hawaiian scorpionfish, a nudibranch 1/4 of an inch long! Really cool!
Dive operation was very professional. Your first day diving with them you were given an overall boat briefing, which was very thorough. After that you got the individual dive site briefings.
Visibility was excellent-80 ft most days. Temp was colder than I expected 76F on most dives. I felt a little chilled in a 3 mil.
They use "heavy" aluminum tanks which are 4 pounds negative, so I used less weight than normal.
