Comments Public parking right there, but come early. Entry from sandy beach, head north follow the rocky ledge shore. Lots of small fish endemic to Hawaii and plenty of turtles laying on the beach and swimming right up to you. Large cave to look at not very deep with turtles napping in it. The next cave is called Bubble cave you can swim in and go up to cave ceiling and stop to talk, there was a turtle napping on a rock when we were there. We looked for a resident reef shark, but couldn't find it. We did see zebra eel in the day time, also lots of star fish and scallops some very large. Large volcanic rocks make up the reef, there are swim throughs. Water was 74 degrees cold that limited our dive to 67 min. We wore three mm wet suits should have also had a hood. It was unusually cold. No need for a guide but he probably would show you more stuff. We payed ten dollars a piece for set of tanks and weights, cheep diving. Not very far from this dive is another called five caves. It is north about three hundred yards, you can park along the road and walk past a small cemetery and between some homes. The entry is terrible worst I'v made about one hundred yard walk, then very slick rocks to enter a narrow shoot with a lot of surg to swim out in. Very nice dive but tough probably would do it from Makena side, snorkeling over though, but watch out for the surge. All things considered a great dive. Max. Depth twenty two ft. 67 min. Still had 1400 lbs. just got cold.
