Comments We went there for a month. I dive for 50 years even but my wife was certified last October.
The resort is very nice. We had the condo 208 with a great view and a little noisy.
Following the Undercurrent recommendation,we used Maui Dream Divers.
Great team, great people. Perfect for beginners. Kim is a very good instructor/guide who was patient with my wife. The boat is very well organized. After 2 beach dive with them, we had 2 beach dive alone. However, diving from the beach is not required if you can swim and hold your breath. Snorkling is as good.
We had 8 more dives from the boat. 4 of those were at Molokini which is the only decent dive spot they have. This is 5 to 6 out of 10.
We also went for a 2 dive trip with Extended Horizon out of Lahaina going to Lanai. This is better diving. The "Cathedral" is very nice. Too bad the dive master only care about taking macro pictures about small animals.
Over-all, Maui is 9/10. The value is 2/10. The diving is 6/10. You must have a Costco card. Restaurants are 4/10. Visiting the island is 8/10 and the weather is 9/10. Watch out about beach diving and the waves. My wife spent hours cleaning her equipment after being rolled over.
WE are going back next year, same time and for a month. We will dive out of Lahaina and will try two other companies.

Recommend you go with Lahaina Divers next year. Two big boats; daily trips to Lanai, with a 3-tank trip on Thursdays to sites not often done on 2-tank trips. Also Molokini backwall on Wed. and Molokai on Tues & Fri. Five-day discount of 20% for the package. See my yearly reviews! By the way, virtual every dive outfit in Hawaii requires a computer (included in the dive price). You really need it for multiple dives and multiple days of diving; having plenty of air left doesn't necessarily mean you have plenty of no-deco time. Have seen idiots ignore their computer, then the DM has to do a 8 minute or longer deco stop back in the water.
