Comments Operation previously got good report in "Undercurrent". They pick you up at your hotel, even if you are in downtown Honolulu (miles away from dock near west end of Oahu). You fill out forms and rent any needed gear at shop. They transport heavy gear on and off boat for you. They also change tanks for you between dives. Boat has marine head, oxygen and a tag system to make sure everyone gets back on board. They provide fresh pineapple, sandwiches, water and yummy cookies. Dive briefings are brief but adequate. They set target time and depth: good idea considering inexperience of many divers. You'd be wise to wear suit and hood. Some divers got chilly, wind blows aboard boat. First dive was to sunken Navy landing craft at 99 feet and less. Some coral, tropical fish and collector urchins aboard but most exciting residents were huge green turtle and four frogfish--photographer's delight! Next dive was to "mini-wall" and series of holes, swim-throughs and shallow reef. Scattered coral, not a well- structured reef but scant bleaching and no crown-of-thorns starfish. Lots of small creatures, another turtle, school of reef squid. Lots of opportunities for close-up shots of small and colorful fish, harlequin shrimp, nudibranch, pencil urchin, starfishes and much more. Not a "high adventure" dive, no big critters except turtles, visibility varied with location but if you'd like some relaxing diving after a conference downtown, give these folks a try.

UW Photo Comments Boat had dedicated camera tub. Could rent simple digital underwater camera (no strobe) but I brought my own. As usual, if you shoot film, you must develop it elsewhere.
