Comments We contacted Octopus Reef by e mail before our trip and booked a 2 tank shore (twilight/ Night) dive. This dive was the diving highlight of our trip. We were met at the shore site by Rene and Lynn, the instructors and owners of Octopus Reef. There were three of us diving, two beginner / intermediate and 1 advanced diver. After a thorough briefing (probably the best and most complete briefing I've received in over 150 dives), we proceeded to enter the water. Both of the less experienced divers entered the water comfortably with the assistance of the instructors and we had one of the best dives any of us have had. Rene led the group and Lynn followed up. Both were excellent at finding the tiniest of critters and pointing out everything to be seen. They constantly checked on both of the less experienced divers and both of them reported being the most comfortable dive (and learning experience) that they have had. Unfortunately, 2 of us were unable to do the second dive for other reasons, but the third diver is still talking about her dive two weeks later.
Rene and Lynn made the beginners relaxed, while not boring an experienced diver. This is a 5+ star operation and a model for dive operators everywhere for both safety and competence. We highly recommend Octopus Reef to divers of any skill level for a wonderful dive experience while on Maui.
