Comments Went with Sea Paradise after several years because we have always had a rewarding dive experience with them and this was no exception. They now run a spacious catamaran and combine snorkelers and divers. We were the only 2 divers and were treated royally. The stairs lower between pontoons and are so easy to go up that my wife, with knee problems, chose to enter and exit the water without assistance. Divemaster Nick was friendly, attentive and environmentally conscious. No grabbing or disrupting sea life and we had the pleasure of watching an octopus change shape and color unmolested for several minutes. We asked for, and got to dive, large lava tube in the Red Hill area, despite some surge. No time pressure and on the way to the dive sites Captain Chris circled what we think was a whale shark for several minutes because we kept losing it in the glare. Nice sandwich fixings, salads and soft drinks during the surface interval. Nick changed out tanks and even packed our gear as we were returning to the dock. The only down side was that the first dive is always Kealakekua Bay which is great snorkeling but only OK diving. Bottom is 111 feet but we dove there before and Nick was fine with cruising at 65 feet along the slope. Holua Resort is walking distance from the dock in a lovely, quiet tropical garden setting. Full kitchen facilities which combined with shopping at Costco helps costs considerably. Costco also has the best gas prices on the island and we fed 4 for lunch (soft drinks included) for $12.
