Comments Well-machined airport pickup--they'll fairly ask for tips for baggage handlers.
AKR toted luggage from airport carasoul and depositied in bungalows.Great reception briefing and bungalow assignments with cold drink.
Use of AKR launch to and from Key is no problem.
Bring strong DEET--those without sufferred sand flea bites. Moderate number tropical mosquitos.
Refrigerator, ceiling fans, A/C & hair dryers in superior rooms. No in-room coffee makers, but its available all day at bar. Can't say it tastes good. Bungalows have large covered decks with chairs and hammocks.Daily bungalow cleaning about what one expects.
Three solid (don't expect gourmet) meals per day with decent choices. AKR has own pastry chef with tasty products! 98% of wait and bar staff very friendly. Several "happy hours" per week. A fun "fiesta" night with entertainment on Key.
Kevin runs a extremely well-organized and safe dive operation! Divers assigned same captain & dive master all week and get to know fellow divers well. Very safety conscious with NITROX and invariably mixed to 32%.Comfortable, clean, and fast 42-foot boats with easy ingress.[Never told if head available-think for "crew" only]. Return to AKR after each dive for surface interval. Dive sites near by. Helpful boat captains help alot and BCDs are changed to new tanks unless you prefer otherwise. If strong NW winds, divers are bussed to island's leeward side where boats await for calmer dive sites.
Mostly knowledgeable, safety conscious, friendly dive masters who are very good at briefings and pointing out interesting sea life.
Lots of tutles, sponges, grouper, lobster, crabs,a few large Moray eels, small fish, okay coral, and neat swim-throughs. Two wrecks are a fun must.
Other activities, dolphin interaction, etc. available plus snorkling. Cruise ship divers kept entirely separate from in-house guests with different boats and dive sites.
AKR is a great value for the money, particluarly for folks wanting to log alot of dives!
