Comments Dived with Coral View Utila dive shop but did not stay at Coral View Resort.

Stayed in nice house five minute walk from dive shop. Both are half mile or more from center of town and shops/restaurants. Generally cooked own meals but barbeque was rusted and broken and only marginally useful. Location was not as quiet as expected as quite a bit of traffic on road even though very close to road's end. House manager, 'Angel', was as helpful as he could be with limited resources. Rented a golf cart from the house for trips to/from town.

Dive staff was friendly, helpful, and reasonably competent. Most dives were just us two and one or two other divers. No complaints nor special accolades for dive staff and dive operation. Dive shop was flexible allowing us to skip a couple of days due to rain and clouds.

Diving was nothing very special other than one encounter with a nurse shark swimming past all divers and checking each out (previously fed?). That encounter was on north side of island where we went only once in a full week of diving (except for two days we didn't dive due to stormy weather). Would have liked to go to north side more times but dive shop wouldn't justify extra fuel with only a few divers aboard. Diving on south side was nothing special but it at least was diving. There was nothing special compared to other places we have been.

We would not go there again. But we would recommend it for novice divers as the diving was about as easy as it gets. The house was nice and would be good for a larger group.

Dive Policy

Dive own profile yes
Enforced diving restrictions Dives ended at 60 minutes whether or not air was low. Dived own depth profile as it is usually more shallow than others' and with small group could negotiate ahead of the dive. Had no complaints with 60 minute limit as little is lost in ending somewhat boring dives.
