Comments Utila town is "funky, cheap and full of backpackers and diver types--my paradise. I am not a "resort" diver so I prefer getting a budget place in town and dive every day. However, I got a good deal on a Fam trip to Deep Blue Resort, so I tried it out.
Arguably, Deep Blue has the best location of any of the other "all inclusive type" dive resorts in Utila. Besides the three dives per day package they offer, there is a great little reef right in front of the main building for unlimited shore diving. The rooms are spacous, the grounds well kept and equipment is high quality and in excellent condition. The food is good and plentiful-- not gourmet, but tasty and varied. Deep Blue only hires only instructors as dive masters. They were very professional and great critter finders.
I would highly recommend Deep Blue to anyone looking for a dive resort experience. I would also recommend Utila over any of the other Honduran bay islands for both diving and value.
Room Tip: Since the resort is located only meters from the water, you will hear the sound of waves.
