Comments We have been diving in Roatan several times with CocoView which is one of the best dive operations in the Caribbean. To try something different, we went to the Villa at Dunbar Rock in March 2022. We flew from Miami to Roatan and took the new ferry to Guanaja. We were met at the airport by staff from the resort and were taken to the ferry dock for a very pleasant 90 minute ride to Guanaja. We were met there by the fantastic Dunbar Rock staff where we were given welcome drinks while they got out luggage. After a 10 minute boat ride to the beautiful Villa at Dunbar Rock, we checked in while our luggage was delivered to our room. We were the only guests for the week beside one of their dive instructors from the sister resort and his girlfriend. We were in the Presidential suite, which was spacious and comfortable, the refrigerator was filled with soft drinks, water, and beer. The meals are made to order, you are given a menu to choose from for each meal with lots of great options. The food was fantastic. The diving was from a nice dive boat with a great dive instructor and boat captain. Guanaja has no cruise ships, jet skis, etc so the coral is the best I have seen in the Caribbean. We saw seahorses, abundant usual Caribbean fish, eagle rays, and some very friendly nurse sharks that followed us around on dives to be petted and fed lion fish. One afternoon we had lunch on a beach that the resort staff brought to us and set up. Surface intervals included a hike to a beautiful waterfall. We never saw another dive boat while we were there. Most dives were 50-70ft, the deepest dive was a wreck at 100ft. Beautiful swim throughs with lots of fish. The resort is fantastic. It was made by divers for divers. They even did our laundry three times while we were there. They can't do enough to make your stay comfortable. True concierge diving with gear set up on the boat when we arrived in the morning and changed over between dives. I highly recommend Dunbar Rock for both beginner and advanced divers for a relaxing, fun dive trip.
