Comments Fantasy Island is currently be significantly updated. Our room was one of the more recent upgrades, room was clean and basic. Maid service daily was excellent. TV reception in our room was poor but other rooms had fine service. Don't drink the tap water, purified water in all room refrigerators, and 1 litter bottled water was only $1. Mosquitoes in our room were a problem the first day until we insisted they give us a can of raid, which they did after we insisted, sprayed once per day and never again had an issue. There was a serious lack of hot water as they could not get the boiler to function correctly. Manager/owner apoligized and said he has been trying to get it fixed. I have read about this complaint from several months ago so there is something wrong with the system. At least water was "luke" warm. Food was oustanding, buffet style. Dive operaton was good, our divemaster "Derry" was outstanding. If he felt comfortable with you as a diver he allowed you to do your own profiles. Logged divers in and out of the water. Boats are older and some had "temporary minor" breakdowns but did not really effect the diving as they were quickly back in service. Site claims 2 computers avialable in the main lobby for email but only 1 worked and if you wanted to use it waits were long - bring you own laptop and use their free wi-fi. My wife tried numerous times to call to resort from NJ and service was poor - never got me even after she finally got to the front desk, so don't count on phone service. Overall, I believe this facitly is on the upswing with the renovations and management is proactive - other resorts being built on the island so they will shortly have competition which will keep the improvements going. All staff were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely go again but more likely in the late April/May timeframe as fish were not abundant in November.
