Comments Infinity Bay Resort and Infinity Diver’s are located in West Bay Beach, the largest white sandy beach in Roatan. The condominiums offer studio size to 3 bedroom units, all with full kitchen facilities. Accommodations can be rented through Infinity Bay, VRBO, or through the owners. Our 2 bdr, 2 bath, condo overlooked a huge, meandering infinity pool which was just steps from the beach and boat dock where we met our dive boats.

The resort offers an indoor restaurant buffet and a swim up Palapa Bar with outdoor eating area. Their Angus burger and fries, as well as other options, are to die for! Other open air restaurants, to suit any palette, are located just steps down the beach. Most nights, live music is offered somewhere along the beach, in addition to a variety of activities such as crab races and fire dancing. You can also grab a water taxi and take the short ride to West End, the town center of Roatan loaded with shops and eateries. Many activities for non-divers are offered near the resort and along the beach.

The reef in front of the resort offers excellent opportunities for snorkeling and shore diving. In addition to a huge variety of reef fish, you are sure to see the huge midnight parrotfish and rainbow parrot that reside there. The dock and buoys somewhat protect the area from boat traffic. Our favorite dive was a night time shore dive. A huge moray eel slithered around the reef as a large reef octopus performed a ballet!

Each morning began with a two tank dive. I must admit that I was quite spoiled with the valet diving. My gear was set up for me each morning, my tanks were changed between dives, and at the end of the week, everything was rinsed, dried and ready to pack on our final morning. Dive Boats are large and usually accommodate two dive groups of 6 to 7 divers with one DM per group. The waters are usually calm and the day, sunny. Dive sites are close by with a 5 to 15 minute boat ride. The reefs are in fair shape. We were distressed by the excessive rust-colored algae and disease on some corals that we saw. We observed several efforts at reef restoration. In addition to the regular reef fish and small critters, we saw numerous hawksbill and green turtles and spotted eagle rays on many dives. We were also greeted by a variety of big grouper. Our wreck dive on El Aguila produced two large seahorses, and the highlight of all dives was a mammoth rough-tail stingray with about an 8 to 10 ft. wingspan. A baited shark dive is available nearby for those seeking large pelagic. In good weather, Infinity Bay can accommodate your request to visit the world renowned “Mary’s Place” on the windward side of the island. Our DM’s, Lindey and Dario were so knowledgeable and enthusiastic about sharing their dives with us and caring for our requests and needs. And Caesar did a great job running the dive shop.
