Comments I'm writing another report about diving the Seychelles, since because of my short vacation time, I went there again to dive in late August. Not much has changed on Praslin and LaDigue islands, gorgeous beaches, very few people, good food, and overall great vacation, however, the diving has gotten a bit worse, following almost complete dissapearance of sharks from my favorite dives there. I was diving with Blue Marine Diving, and I was very happy with them, Cyril was a very good ower-instructor, and we never had more than four people diving with us, on the small, but good and reliable boat. Both, service and dive guide were very good, we still could see some big humphead parrotfish on some dives, turtles were there every dive, and a substantial amount of eagle rays, but there were no sharks anymore, as they were there even 3 years ago. Unfortunately I've found out why in a very cruel way, when we had a break in diving on LaDigue Island. There I saw a small fishing boat unloading their catch, including a substantial amout of shark fins. Then I knew why I didn't see any sharks on my dives, as I did 3 years ago on the same islands.
It is unfortunate that it did happen and nobody is doing anything about it. Three years ago, we had more fishlife underwater around these islands, and diving was much better. The Seychelles are as beautiful as they were, and it is a great vacation spot, but not for divers, not anymore.
