Comments Campbell River BC: “World’s Best Cold-Water Diving”- Current, Cold Water, and a Cool Boat with an Elevator

Patrolling in the boat near the dive site, eyes riveted on the kelp straining in the current, we divers awaited the moment when the earth and the moon would release their grip and stop the mighty current of Discovery Passage from flowing. Finally, the kelp straightened to the surface, and we could plunge in. We enjoyed exploring the surprisingly colorful creatures and a wreck during the slack. The conclusion of the dive was thrilling as we hung onto kelp during the safety stop in the now restarted current. After the safety stop, we then dashed for open water and were plucked onto the boat via its elevator in the bow.

Life flourishes in the cold and nutrient rich water of Campbell River BC. You are greeted with vibrant colors from the creatures clinging to the rocks like orange cup coral, white plumose anemone, purple urchins, yellow sponges, and green anemone.
