Comments The boat was far from full; there were 6 divers plus one dive guide, captain, and deckhand. This was good.
There are buoys stationed over the Vandenberg. The boat crew set up lines for us to use from the stern down about 10 feet (a spare tank and reg was fastened there), a line leading aft to another buoy for our ascent, and a line leading forward to the buoy's anchor line. They encouraged us to pull ourselves along the lines to save air for our time on the Vandenberg. My max depth on the ship was just under 100 feet; We were diving air and our total dive time was less than 30 min.
Because one of us has just "open water" cert, we were required to go with a guide - this was good because she knew interesting routes through the ship and brought us back to our starting point each time.
Most remarkable to me was that her non-thermal protection was a bikini - and there were some sharp metal edges along our path.
