Readers who have moaned about TACA’s poor
service and delayed baggage arrivals on trips to Roatán may finally have some
recourse.
Reader Tom Morrill (Kansas City MO) told us that when he made it to Roatán
and his bags didn’t, he pursued what he believes is a TACA policy giving
passengers $100/person if TACA is at fault for late-arriving bags. Morrill got his
money, and writes, “I believe this is a TACA policy. However, it is not one they
advertise. If you don’t know about it and don’t ask for it, you won’t get it. You
must complain loudly that you want compensation.”
However, if this is a TACA policy, they won’t tell Undercurrent about it. I
made several calls to TACA representatives, and not one was willing to
divulge their policy. Nonetheless, since at least some ground personnel
seem to think this is TACA’s policy, if you’re one of the unfortunate ones
who fails to get your bags, raise hell. You might get compensated.
