Has Ocean Realm Sunk Without a Trace?

from the August, 2002 issue of Undercurrent   Subscribe Now

If you were one of the few readers of Ocean Realm (too few, it appears), you probably remember the San Antonio-based quarterly as an opulently illustrated, natural history magazine focusing on the marine environment. Unfortunately, the autumn 2001 issue was the last in Ocean Realm’s sixteen-year history, or at least the last one under the original owners, who have been trying for the better part of the year to sell it, so far unsuccessfully. They believe there is relief on the horizon, but one might speculate that the emergence of Fathoms may end that hope. Reader Bob Gillman (Dallas, TX) tells us that he found out the magazine had ceased publication only after renewing his subscription ($40/year) and that he has heard nothing from the publishers in response to repeated phone messages and e-mails.
