An adult Atlantic goliath grouper, a favorite of Florida wreck divers, is huge - up to 8 feet long and 800 pounds. It nearly disappeared from Florida waters because of overfishing, so a ban was instituted. They're coming back, but there aren't a lot of them. And it's in trouble. You see, the fishing community is lobbying hard for a "limited harvest" that serves no scientific or recovery purpose. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission is soliciting online citizen input about allowing Goliath Grouper fishing once again.
