When I saw the headline in September that announced FDA Panel Says Some Decongestants Don't Work, I said to myself, "Wait a minute, I know from personal experience that Sudafed works."
But when I looked closer at the picture, I realized it was Sudafed PE, not regular Sudafed, that was being used as an example. And therein lies the rub.
Sudafed PE and others use phenylephrine, whereas regular Sudafed use pseudoephedrine, where the product derives its name. Products with pseudoephedrine are still considered effective. But the ones with phenylephrine, not pseudoephedrine, are considered ineffective....
