Put Your Dive Videos Online: April 01, 2007There is a new website catering to divers who want to show their dive videos to the world. ScubaVidz, sort of the diver's You Tube, broadcasts videos from pro and amateur underwater cinematographers, categorized by geography ranging from Australia to Utila. The newest videos show footage of Australian fur seals at Jervis Bay and big octopuses in Palancar. You can upload videos from your own computer or personal Web page - make sure they're child-friendly. The Amazing Race for Divers: April 01, 2007While we admit to being skeptical of a brand new diver competition with a heavy fee for entry, we'll at least tell you about "Ultimate Diver Challenge" event in Cozumel, August 16 to 27. Ninety-six teams with 10 divers each will compete for shared prizes of $50,000 cash and the titles of "Ultimate Diver Team" and "The Ultimate Diver." Underwater challenges will test the ability to navigate, search, rescue, and identify. Dive contestants must pay $1,850 in "participation fees" (includes accommodations) for nine nights. See www.ultimatediverchallenge.com. Memorial for Larry Smith, "The World's Greatest Dive Guide.": April 01, 2007A fund for Larry Smith's wife and nine-year-old-daughter has been established, and your contribution would be welcome. Get details on this fund as well as Larry's life and death at www.wetpixel.com. Have You Volunteered to Dive and Do Reef Research?: April 01, 2007We're doing a piece on volunteer dive trips organized by non-profit organizations (REEF, Earthwatch, etc.) that use divers to help with research. Let us know if you have taken one recently or intend to by e-mailing PublisherBen@undercurrent.org. Join Online: April 01, 2007Forbes recently named Undercurrent to its "Best of the Web" list.
